Day 40 and we are bound for New York. It
was a rainy day in Toronto and our flight was at lunchtime so it was a quiet
morning of packing for us. Our flight was from Toronto Island airport, as the
name suggests it is located on the Toronto Islands in the city. The airport was
a short taxi then ferry ride from Eddie’s place. It was only a one-beer flight
from Toronto to New York; it almost took us longer to get through customs. The
New York skyline was an incredible sight from the air, skyscraper after skyscraper
reaching for the clouds as if creating a canopy for the 'concrete jungle' below.
Tonight we headed to ‘The Oddball Comedy Festival’ in Holmdel, New Jersey. A bit unprepared we had to smartly make our
way to the hotel and then onto a train to get to the event. The festival was
held outside in a amphitheatre style venue, in what seemed to be the middle of
nowhere, so much so that the comedians continually commented on the venues
isolation. The festival could be likened to a music festival back home, food,
alcohol, multiple acts and portaloos. We saw short sets from; Kristen Schall,
Al Madrigal, John Mulaney and Sarah Silverman before The Flight of The Concords
and Dave Chappelle performed for about an hour each. We really enjoyed all the comedians
and had a great night, a bit of a downer was the hour wait at the train station
but we still made it safe and sound back to our hotel at around 0100.
